An engineering design firm was contracted to evaluate and design HVAC upgrades for a Juvenile Justice facility in the Midwest. As a result of the engineering firm’s assessments, the facility received new water-cooled screw chillers, condensing boilers, and VFD’s. The HVAC retrofit resulted in a power and energy savings of 41.50% as compared to a baseline installation. The engineering firm was allocated the Section 179D deduction and received the benefit of an $84,909.00 tax deduction.
