Spending on architectural design declined in November, the first decrease since April according to the Architectural Billings Index

Compiled by the American Institute of Architects, the ABI is a leading economic indicator for construction: It takes approximately nine months to a year between architecture billings and construction spending.

“This slight dip is likely just a minor, and hopefully temporary, lull in the progress of current design projects,” said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, although he expressed concerns over the possible effects of “continued uneasiness in the marketplace.”
