Construction Spending Up In March

Construction spending in March was up slightly over February — and up 8 percent from a year earlier — to reach its highest level since October 2007, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Total construction is $1.138 trillion at a seasonally adjusted annual rate, the analysis said.

“Construction should be a significant contributor to economic growth in the remainder of 2016 and beyond,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist.
