EBI Shows Confidence in Market

The confidence of engineering CEOs continued to grow in the first quarter of 2016, according to the Engineering Business Index (EBI) compiled by the American Council of Engineering Companies.

The EBI charts the health of the engineering industry through member responses to a series of questions about company performance and market trends, consolidated into a single number. Any number over 50 indicates expansion.

The Q1 EBI rose to 64.0, up from 63.1 in the Q4 2015.

More than half of firms reported that their backlog have grown over the past 12 months, and 81 percent intend to increase their staffing over the coming 12 months.

Engineers working on construction projects should look for opportunities to incorporate energy-efficient designs in their projects — and to earn the Section 179D deduction (up to $1.80 per square foot). As the country’s leading specialist in this deduction, Concord has the experience, knowledge and capacity to handle any project, at every step of the way.
