Continuing a strong comeback from an early-year dip, the September Architectural Billings Index shows architectural billings increasing in all regions and sectors.

Compiled by the American Institute of Architects, the ABI is a leading economic indicator for construction: It takes approximately nine months to a year between architecture billings and construction spending.

AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker said that while condominium and apartment projects have been keeping the construction and design industry afloat, “The recently resurgent Institutional sector is leading to broader growth for the entire construction industry.”
