While the Architectural Billings Index had ups and downs this year, it was positive in 8 of 12 months and ended the year on an upswing: the December score was 50.9, up from 49.3 the previous month.
Although the October Architectural Billings Index is down slightly, at 53.1 compared to September’s 53.7, it remains in positive territory and suggests that construction remains on firm footing.
In June the Architectural Billings Index hit its highest mark since July 2007, driven largely by demand for institutional projects such as new education and healthcare facilities, public safety and government buildings.
The April Architectural Billings Index declined for the second month this year — although the general trend is positive, with increases in thirteen out of the last fifteen months.
