Senate Democrats unveil energy bill – 179D Extension Included
At a press conference at 10:45 AM on Sept 22, 2015 Senate Democrats led by Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (N-NV), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) unveiled a comprehensive energy bill, including measures reforming energy tax incentives.

National Association of Manufacturers Urges Congress to Extend Section 179D Deduction
The National Association of Manufacturers is currently circulating a letter for individual companies to sign on to urging Congress to immediately extend the expired and expiring tax provisions, similar to the tax extenders letter the Coalition sent to Congress in 2014. The Coalition sign-on letter will be open to companies, coalitions, associations and non-profit groups (including state/local/regional groups) to sign. The final letter will be sent to Congress the week of September 7th.

Senate Finance Committee Takes Action on 179D Extension
Concord is pleased to report that the Senate Finance Committee has taken decisive action to improve the proven value of the Section 179D deduction. Yesterday, July 21st, the Senate Finance Committee held an open executive session to consider a bill to extend certain expired tax provisions. The 52 expired or expiring provisions included for review included the Section 179D deduction (also known as the EPAct deduction as a result of its creation from the Energy Policy Act of 2005).
